Why you should "Draw the Line" at Doodle Animation

by WireBuzz, on Nov 10, 2021 4:26:00 PM

Is doodle animation bad—or just drawn that way? In our final installment of our animation series, WireBuzz CEO Todd Hartley explains the downfalls of doodle animation—and why you should avoid it.

Doodle animation is a real-time, hand-drawn animation that was introduced about 20 years ago and continues to be a popular choice among businesses. On paper, it seems like a no-brainer: no design skills are needed, customer explainer videos can cost as low as $50, and there’s even free doodle animation software available.

What they don’t tell you is that this technique is super-outdated. Are you still using the same phone you had 15 years ago? Not likely. And doodle animation is basically the RAZR phone of animation. As an innovator in your field, you need animation that is modern and reflects your ahead-of-the-curve products and services.

Additionally, doodle animation can lose your audience—quickly. They take way too long to get to the point, and your audience won’t stay engaged.

Instead, consider a more advanced custom animation to creatively tell a more complex story that is on-message and on-brand.
