How to Make Our Team Swipe Right on your Resume

by WireBuzz, on Feb 23, 2022 3:20:52 PM

Is it just us, or does job hunting in today’s day and age feel a lot like online dating? There’s the scrolling, the scrutinizing, the swiping, and finally, creating the right opening line with hopes there will be contact. Finding that perfect match can be tricky. There is usually a lot of competition. And though a potential match may say they want someone with all your same qualifications, you're still getting ghosted.

What you need is a playbook that sheds some light on who you’re matching with and what they are really looking for. Lucky for you, WireBuzz is hiring, and we are sharing some hot tips on how to stand out in a sea of applicants and soar straight to the top of our list.

Make an effort

We don’t know who needs to hear this, but LinkedIn’s “Easy Apply” feature may as well be called, “Show a company you do the bare minimum.” It’s the equivalent of sliding into your Tinder match’s DMs with nothing but “Hey.” Be better. Write that cover letter, film that video, create that landing page. We’re a marketing agency. If you don’t make an effort to hack our attention in your application, that tells us you won’t be able to hack attention for our clients.

Show, don’t tell

If you want to show off your athletic prowess on your dating profile, chances are you’ll post all those gym or race photos as proof. We want the same receipts from our applicants. If you’re good at what you do, let your content samples and portfolio speak for you.

Show us who you are

People work with people, and our culture is our glue. Be authentic and tease your personality. Although it’s important to see those gym and race photos on the dating site, at the end of the day, you still want to know if that person is kind, funny, and smart—and when it comes to our applicants, so do we.

Prepare to engage

Have you ever been on a date where the other person peppers you with questions and you leave knowing nothing about them? We have, and we weren’t impressed. If you’re selected for an interview, we promise it will be a two-way dialogue where your questions are just as important as your answers. A good fit goes both ways, and it’s essential to discuss what matters to YOU in a long-term professional relationship.

Show us what you got, and good luck!
